10:00am Dry landing. Recommended footwear: sports shoes. South Plaza is a small island of 13 hectares, located to the Santa Cruz east. Its twin, North Plaza is reserved only for scientific studies. The channel between the two islands is the home of the largest colonies of sea lions in the archipelago. There is an important colony of land iguanas which are the smallest around it. The last census on the island, about land iguanas, reported a population of 350 iguanas that feed on all kinds of plants, but during the dry season they survive on fruit and flowers of Opuntia cactus, which are abundant in the islet.

11:30pm Return to the boat and lunch.

12:00pm Sailing To Punta Carrion.

01:00pm Snorkelling in Punta Carrion where you can observe a great variety of fish, sharks, eagle rays and sometimes you can see turtles too.

Santa Fe Island itinerary

Pick up passengers at the hotel at 07:00am The bus picks up passengers and transports them from Puerto Ayora to Itabaca Channel Boat, the journey takes about 45 minutes.

08:30am The dinghy picks up passengers in the channel and takes them to Altamar Yacht, the ride to Santa Fe starts when all the passengers are on board, it is a journey that lasts 2 hours.

09:30am Wet landing. In this type of landing it is recommended to put the shoes in the backpack or load them on hands, because the landing is on the shore of the beach and the passengers will get wet above the ankles. It is advisable to wear hiking shoes (sports shoes). The check point to visit Santa Fe is the northwest of the island, it is a beautiful turquoise bay with two white sand beaches populated by sea lions (Zalophus wollebaeki) sunbathing. The landing is made at any of the beaches and the trail begins behind Monte Salado bushes (Cryptocarpus pyriformis). The path is rocky, but it is not a quick or difficult hike it takes about an hour and a half to look at the different animals such as finches, the Galapagos doves probably, the Galapagos snakes, coastal flying rodents and perhaps some hawks looking for a potential prey. The star on Santa Fe is the pale land iguana, endemic of the island; it means that it is the only place where you can find it. The only place in the world which this land iguana lives. Santa Fe Island also has a type of cactus found only there (the cactus Opuntia echios var Barringtonensis) larger and thicker than any other in Galapagos, reaching a height of eight feet and a circumference of about two meters. The trail ends at the second beach.

11:00am The dinghy picks up passengers to take them to the yacht for lunch.

11:40pm Snorkelling in the bay.

12:40pm Pick up the passenger from the water and go to the boat for lunch.

01:40pm Return to the boat to start the journey back to Itabaca Channel (the trip takes two hours) where the bus will be waiting for passengers to take them to their hotels.

North Seymour Island and Bachas Beach Itinerary

Pick up passengers at the hotel at 07:00am The bus picks up passengers and transports them from Puerto Ayora to Itabaca Channel Boat, the journey takes about 45 minutes.

08:30am The dinghy picks up passengers in the channel and takes them to Altamar Yacht, the ride to North Seymour starts when all passengers are on board, it is a trip that takes 45 minutes.

10:00am We have a dry landing. This means that you can get to the dock with your shoes on. This is a flat, rocky island, that requires comfortable shoes for the hike, the trail is only 2 miles, but do not forget the bottle of water and sun protection because the tour is about an hour and a half. North Seymour is a small island located to the north of Baltra (also known as South Seymour, by the location of the airport) the land is quite barren and rocky and the vegetation consists mostly of cactus, palo santo trees, bat green, muyuyos and portulaca. The island is one of the most beautiful attractions in Galapagos, and we can find the most iconic animals of the islands. It is one of the few places where we can enter and visit the colony of frigate birds, nesting in the bushes near the trails. The male frigate birds in their mating season, inflate their red craw to attract females. Later we find the famous blue-footed boobies, which also nest on the island. They can be seen performing courtship, which is one of the most amazing spectacles of nature. They are seen incubating eggs, feeding their chicks or watching them to become strong and able to fly and fish on their own. We can also, find land iguanas around the cactus finches, Galapagos doves, lava herons, zayapas and playful sea lion pups on the banks.

11:45am We go back on board to go to Bachas Beach. The sailing lasts about 45 minutes.

12:00pm Lunch on board.

01:00pm Wet landing. In this type of landing it is recommended to put the shoes in the backpack or load them on hands, because the landing is on the shore of the beach and the passengers will get wet above the ankles. Here, we will have a small hike that can be done in slippers or barefoot, because this type of sand does not absorb the sun's heat. The tour is behind the sand dunes in which there is a hypersaline lagoon where you can see flamingos, lapwings real, pintail Galapagos finches and canaries. Flying over we can also see blue-footed boobies, pelicans and frigates. We will be able to enjoy snorkeling after a 20 minutes’ walk. The boat has the mask and tube for this activity.

02.30pm Return to the boat to back to Itabaca Channel (journey time 40 minutes) where the bus will be waiting for passengers to take them to their hotels.
